Train to become a DJ / Air Talent in Portland
Jeff grew up in FM radio, working part time, after school and weekends. Music programming soon became his focus and Jeff stepped into his first programming position. A series of programming positions culminated in the early 80’s with building the first station in the 100 year history of Haines Alaska. It was a public radio station and earned the highest per capita listener support in the nation for several years in the 80’s. In the mid 80’s, Jeff moved to public radio management until taking responsibility for the radio broadcasting program at Mt. Hood Community College in 1989. Jeff’s students work all over the country, from Miami Production Director to NPR reporter to Alaskan Program Director. Jeff’s students have honored him many times. Jeff Young offers customized one–on-one mentoring in radio basics: Focus can be on radio performance, radio writing, and/or radio production, including audition tapes and the marketing of tapes.
